  SCHOOLS ARE OPEN TODAY IN THE SAUCON VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT DESPITE AN ONGOING CONTRACT STALEMATE.  THE UNION'S MOST RECENT PROPOSAL INCLUDED MORE THAN 2 PERCENT PAY INCREASES IN EACH YEAR OF A FOUR-YEAR CONTRACT PROPOSAL.  THE SCHOOL BOARD SAYS THOSE RAISES WOULD ACTUALLY BE MORE LIKE 7 AND 12 PERCENT BECAUSE OF CONTINUING EDUCATION RAISES.  TEACHERS SAY THEY HAVE NO INTENTION OF STRIKING AT THIS POINT AND THE BOARD'S CHIEF NEGOTIATOR, ED INGHRIM, SAYS THEY'LL GET AT LEAST A LITTLE NOTICE IF THAT CHANGES.  "STATE LAW STATES THEY HAVE TO GIVE US 48 HOURS BEFORE THEY GO OUT ON STRIKE," INGHRIM SAYS.  THE TEACHERS HAVE BEEN WORKING WITHOUT A CONTRACT SINCE JUNE 2012.  SAUCON VALLEY SCHOOL TEACHERS HAVE WALKED OUT IN 2005, 2008 AND 2009.


  POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A HOME INVASION AND ROBBERY IN ALLENTOWN.  THREE MEN WEARING SKI MASKS BROKE INTO TWO APARTMENTS IN THE SAME BUILDING IN THE 800 BLOCK OF ST. JOHN STREET JUST BEFORE 1:30 SUNDAY MORNING.  THE MEN BROKE INTO THE APARTMENTS AND TIED UP THE PEOPLE INSIDE.  POLICE THINK THE MEN WERE TARGETING THE FAMILY IN THE SECOND APARTMENT AND THINK THEY WENT INTO THE FIRST APARTMENT BY MISTAKE.  POLICE DON'T THINK IT WAS A RANDOM ATTACK.  THE MEN GOT AWAY WITH AN UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT OF MONEY FROM THE SECOND APARTMENT. 


  POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A CASE OF POLICE IMPERSONATION IN THE POCONOS.  TWO MEN HAVE BEEN DRIVING AROUND IN A DARK GREY SEDAN WITH BLUE AND RED LIGHTS, TRYING TO PULL PEOPLE OVER.  THE TWO TRIED TO PULL OVER A CAR IN A CONSTRUCTION ZONE ON ROUTE 33 IN HAMILTON TOWNSHIP SUNDAY.  THE VICTIM SAYS ONCE THEY WERE STOPPED, THE TWO MEN GOT OUT OF THEIR CAR AND THREATENED THEM.


  A FAMILY OF SIX IS OUT OF THEIR HOME AFTER A FIRE RIPPED THROUGH THEIR ALLENTOWN HOME.  FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO 853 NORTH SHERMAN STREET JUST BEFORE 2 O'CLOCK SATURDAY AFTERNOON.  THE FIRE WAS MOSTLY CONTAINED TO THE BASEMENT, BUT THERE WAS SOME MINOR DAMAGE TO THE FIRST FLOOR.  THE FIRE, WHICH IS BEING RULED ACCIDENTAL, WAS BROUGHT UNDER CONTROL WITHIN ABOUT 20 MINUTES.


  THE GREAT ALLENTOWN FAIR IS GETTING A BIG PAT ON THE BACK.  "THE GREAT ALLENTOWN FAIR HAS BEEN NOMINATED BY THE INTERNATIONAL ENTERTAINMENT BUYERS ASSOCIATION FOR FAIR OF THE YEAR," SAYS BONNIE BROSIOUS.  THE OTHER NOMINEES ARE THE STATE FAIRS IN TEXAS,   MINNESOTA, KENTUCKY, OHIO AND IOWA.  THE WINNER WILL BE REVEALED AT THE END OF SEPTEMBER.  THE 2014 GREAT ALLENTOWN FAIR OPENS UP TOMORROW AFTERNOON.


  THE TANEY DRAGONS MAY NOT BE THE LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS BUT THEY ARE CHAMPIONS IN THEIR HOMETOWN.  PHILADELPHIA MAYOR MICHAEL NUTTER AND A LARGE CROWD OF FANS WELCOMED THE TEAM HOME AT LOVE PARK IN CENTER CITY SUNDAY.  NUTTER ANNOUNCED THERE WILL BE A PARADE FOR THE DRAGONS ON WEDNESDAY AND SAYS DETAILS WILL BE RELEASED SOON.  THE TEAM WILL ALSO BE HONORED BY THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES AND WILL TAKE THE FIELD BEFORE WEDNESDAY'S GAME FOR A SPECIAL TRIBUTE.


  AN INCOMING PENN STATE FRESHMAN IS DEAD FOLLOWING AN ACCIDENT AT A CONSTRUCTION SITE ON CAMPUS.  18-YEAR-OLD JACK CREAN WAS FOUND DEAD SUNDAY MORNING BY UNIVERSITY POLICE, WHO SAY IT APPEARS CREAN EITHER JUMPED OR FELL FROM A CRANE AT THE SECURED SITE.  CREAN GRADUATED FROM STATE COLLEGE HIGH SCHOOL IN JUNE AND HAD JUST MOVED INTO HIS DORM.
