  A LEHIGH VALLEY MAN IS DEAD AFTER A WEEKEND FIGHT IN OCEAN CITY, MARYLAND.  "ON SUNDAY MORNING AT 3:12AM, WE RESPONDED TO THE PLIM PLAZA HOTEL FOR A REPORT OF A VICTIM OF AN ASSAULT THAT HAD OCCURED JUST A FEW MINUTES PRIOR," SAYS OCEAN CITY POLICE SPOKESPERSON LINDSAY O'NEAL.  WHEN POLICE ARRIVED, THEY FOUND A BADLY BEATEN 37-YEAR-OLD JUSTIN CANCELLIERE.  CANCELLIERE, WHO WAS FROM NORTH WHITEHALL TOWNSHIP, DIED A SHORT WHILE LATER AT THE HOSPITAL.  NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE.


  THREATENING WEATHER ON SATURDAY HELPED PUSH ATTENDANCE DOWN FROM THE 2013 AIRSHOW AT LEHIGH VALLEY INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT.  SHOW ORGANIZERS SAY MORE THAN 30,000 PEOPLE ATTENDED THE AIRSHOW, DOWN FROM LAST YEAR'S 40,000.  AIRPORT EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR CHARLES EVERETT SAYS, AT A MINIMUM, THE AIRPORT BROKE EVEN WITH THE EVENT, A YEAR AFTER NETTING ALMOST $60,000.


  WHEN STUDENTS RETURNED TO NORTHAMPTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE'S MONROE CAMPUS MONDAY, THEY FOUND A BRAND NEW $72 MILLION CAMPUS WAITING FOR THEM.  THE NEW CAMPUS, JUST OFF OF I-80 NEAR TANNERSVILLE, REPLACES A SMALL ONE-STORY BUILDING IN STROUDSBURG WHICH THE COLLEGE CALLED HOME SINCE 1993.  THAT BUILDING COULD BARELY ACCOMDATE THE 900 STUDENTS WHO ATTENDED CLASSES THERE, BUT THE NEW CAMPUS IS ABLE TO HANDLE AS MANY AS 5000 STUDENTS.  THE NEW CAMPUS WAS FINANCES BY CORPORATE DONORS, MONROE COUNTY AND THE STATE'S DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION.


  AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO DRUG POSSESSION, A WHITEHALL MAN WAS SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS OF PROBATION.  40-YEAR-OLD MARK BALAS WAS ONE OF 23 PEOPLE ARRESTED LAST YEAR FOR THEIR INVOLVEMENT IN SMUGGLING MEXICAN DRUGS INTO THE LEHIGH VALLEY.  BALAS, WHO HAS NO PRIOR CRIMINAL RECORD, WAS INITIALLY CHARGED WITH A FELONY, BUT PLEADED THAT DOWN TO A PAIR OF MISDEMEANORS.


  A POPULAR PHILADELPHIA-BASED CHEESESTEAK CHAIN IS COMING TO ALLENTOWN BY THE END OF SEPTEMBER.  "IN 1994 WE WON 'BEST OF PHILLY' FOR BEST CHEESESTEAK AND BEST ROAST PORK AND BUSINESS STARTED TO PICK UP AND THIS TINY SHOP THAT NOBODY WOULD GIVE A SECOND LOOK TO JUST STARTED TO GET SOME LEGS TO IT," SAYS TONY LUKE.  HIS BUSINESS WILL OPEN ITS NEWEST LOCATION AT 806 WEST HAMILTON STREET, JUST A BLOCK AWAY FROM THE NEW PPL CENTER.  TONY LUKE'S WILL BE OPEN FROM BREAKFAST THROUGH THE LATE NIGHT HOURS.


  IT'S OPENING DAY AT THE GREAT ALLENTOWN FAIR.  FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER, THE FAIR IS CHARGING $3 ADMISSION ON TONIGHT'S PREVIEW NIGHT, WHICH BEGINS AT 4 O'CLOCK.  HOWEVER, THE FAIR'S BONNIE BROSIOUS SAYS YOU CAN WHITTLE THAT $3 CHARGE DOWN TO $1 IF YOU BRING A NON-PERISHABLE FOOD ITEM TO THE GATE.  "WE CALL IT 'A BUCK AND A CAN' BECAUSE IF YOU BRING IN A FOOD ITEM, YOU'LL ONLY PAY $1 AT THE GATE AND YOU'RE ADMISSION GOES TO SUPPORT THE AGRICULTURAL MISSION OF THE FAIR.  YOU'RE FIGHTING HUNGER AND YOU'RE SUPPORTING OUR GREAT AGRICULTURAL MISSION AT THE SAME TIME," BROSIOUS SAYS.  ALL FOOD ITEMS DONATED TONIGHT WILL BE TURNED OVER TO THE SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY.


  IT'S DAY ONE OF THE GREAT ALLENTOWN FAIR AND IT OPENS UP WITH A HIGH ENERGY GRANDSTAND SHOW TONIGHT.  HIP-HOP, RAP STAR PITBULL IS IN ALLENTOWN TONIGHT FOR A GRANDSTAND SHOW.  TICKETS ARE STILL AVAILABLE.  TOMORROW NIGHT'S GRANDSTAND SHOW WILL FEATURE MOTLEY CRUE AND ALICE COOPER.


  A WOMAN IS RECOVERING FROM INJURIES AFTER HER HOUSE CAUGHT ON FIRE IN STROUDSBURG.  THE FIRE HAPPENED AT A HOME AT MAIN AND SECOND STREETS AROUND 1 O'CLOCK MONDAY AFTERNOON.  THE WOMAN WAS TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL FOR SMOKE INHALATION AND INJURIES SHE SUSTAINED FROM JUMPING OUT OF A WINDOW.  INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE THE FIRE MAY HAVE STARTED IN THE ATTIC.


  A MAN IS FACING CHARGES FOR ALLEGEDLY LETTING AN 8-YEAR-OLD STEER A CAR BECAUSE HE WAS TOO DRUNK TO DRIVE.  CLARENCE HAIRSTON WAS ARRESTED OVER THE WEEKEND WHEN POLICE PULLED HIM OVER FOR ERRATIC DRIVING.  HAIRSTON WAS OPERATING THE GAS AND BRAKE PEDALS BUT THE CHILD WAS IN HIS LAP STEERING THE VEHICLE.  THERE WAS ALSO A 9-YEAR-OLD IN THE PASSENGER'S SEAT.  OFFICERS AT THE SCENE SAY HAIRSTON WAS SO DRUNK HE COULD BARELY STAND UP.


  OFFICIALS ARE RELEASING DETAILS ON THE PARADE TO HONOR THE LITTLE LEAGUE'S TANEY DRAGONS.  THE PARADE WILL BEGIN AT 2PM WEDNESDAY AT 20TH AND MARKET STREETS IN CENTER CITY.  IT WILL GO EAST ON MARKET STREET, ROUND THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF CITY HALL AND THEN SOUTH ON BROAD STREET TO FDR PARK AT BROAD AND PATTISON.  THE PHILLY POPS! AND THE MUMMERS WILL PERFORM FOR THE TEAM DURING THE PARADE.  THE TEAM WILL ALSO BE HONORED BY THE PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES AT CITIZENS BANK PARK WEDNESDAY NIGHT.

  NEW JERSEY LAWMAKERS ARE CALLING FOR A REVIEW OF A POLICY THAT DELIVERS SURPLUS MILITARY EQUIPMENT TO LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS.  THE FEDERAL DEFENSE LOGISTICS AGENCY SAYS LOCAL POLICE DEPARTMENTS HAVE RECEIVED $5.1 BILLION IN MILITARY SURPLUS EQUIPMENT RANGING FROM HIGH-POWERED WEAPONS TO BLANKETS.
