  THERE WILL SOON BE 14 NEW SURVEILLANCE CAMERAS INSTALLED IN THE AREA SURROUNDING ALLENTOWN'S NEW PPL CENTER.  CITY CENTER INVESTMENT CORP. WHICH IS THE BIGGEST DEVELOPER IN THE ARENA AREA, SAYS IT WILL BE PAYING $150,000 TO ADD 11 HIGH-DEFINITION CAMERAS ALONG THE ARTS WALK AND OTHER DOWNTOWN INTERSECTIONS.  J.B. REILLY IS CITY CENTER PRESIDENT.  "IT'S OUR HOPE THAT THE COMBINATION OF PUBLIC AND PRIVATE EYES WATCHING OUR STREETS AROUND THE CLOCK WILL GIVE PEOPLE COMPLETE CONFIDENCE ABOUT LIVING, WORKING AND PLAYING IN DOWNTOWN ALLENTOWN," REILLY SAYS.  ALLENTOWN WILL PAY FOR THREE MORE HIGH-DEFINITION CAMERAS ON CENTER SQUARE.  THE CITY ALREADY HAS 130 CAMERAS IN OPERATION ACROSS THE CITY.


  WIN MIN HTUT HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON WITH NO PAROLE AND NO APPEAL RIGHTS AFTER PLEADING GUILTY TO KILLING HIS WIFE LAST DECEMBER 17.  HTUT KILLED HIS WIFE THE SAME DAY SHE GOT A PROTECTION-FROM-ABUSE ORDER THAT BARRED HTUT FROM THEIR HOME AND GETTING ANYWHERE NEAR HER.  WITHIN HOURS, HTUT ENTERED THEIR BETHLEHEM HOME WITH A GUN.  HIS WIFE, THIDA, RAN AWAY CARRYING THEIR 3-YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER.  AS SHE FLED, HTUT SHOT HER IN THE HEAD.  THE COUPLE'S TWO OTHER CHILDREN ALSO WITNESSED THE KILLING. 


  A SUSPICIOUS ALLENTOWN DEATH IS NO LONGER BEING CALLED SUSPICIOUS.  IT'S NOW BEING CALLED A HOMICIDE.  THE LEHIGH COUNTY CORONER'S OFFICE HAS DETERMINED 60-YEAR-OLD SHIRLEY DILEO WAS STRANGLED INSIDE HER HOME IN THE 500 BLOCK OF WEST CHEW STREET.  HER BODY WAS FOUND SUNDAY NIGHT.  NEIGHBORS ARE ESPECIALLY CONCERNED BECAUSE IT'S THE SECOND MURDER ON THEIR BLOCK THIS YEAR.  THE SUSPECT ALLEGEDLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FIRST KILLING BACK IN JANUARY IS IN CUSTODY.


  A BROOKLYN MAN IS CHARGED WITH ENDANGERING THE WELFARE OF 3- AND 5-YEAR-OLD GIRLS BY LEAVING THEM ALONE INSIDE A VEHICLE WHILE HE WAS INSIDE THE SANDS CASINO IN BETHLEHEM.  POLICE SAY THE CHILDREN WERE SPOTTED INSIDE THE CAR BY SANDS SECURITY INSIDE A PARKING GARAGE.  VAYLON WONG EVENTUALLY RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE AND WAS ARRESTED.  WONG SAYS HE WAS BABYSITTING THE CHILDREN FOR A NEIGHBOR, HOWEVER THE CHILDREN REFERRED TO HIM AS 'DADDY'.  THOSE CHILDREN WERE TURNED OVER TO NORTHAMPTON COUNTY CHILDREN AND YOUTH.


  BETHLEHEM'S MAYOR IS ASKING CITY COUNCIL TO APPROVE RAISING THE CITY'S AMUSEMENT TAX BY $1 A TICKET.  ROBERT DONCHEZ SAYS THE HIGHER TAX WOULD BRING AN ADDITIONAL $200,000 NEXT YEAR.  CRITICS OF THE IDEA ARE CONCERNED A $2.50 CAP WOULD HARM TICKET SALES AT THE SANDS EVENT CENTER AND OTHER ENTERTAINMENT DESTINTATIONS IN BETHLEHEM.  BUT DONCHEZ SAYS THE ADDITIONAL MONEY IS NEEDED TO HELP PAY FOR A PROJECTED SPENDING INCREASE OF NEARLY $6 MILLION, WHICH THE MAYOR SAYS IS NEEDED TO PAY FOR HEALTH AND PENSION COSTS.


  WE'RE LEARNING MORE ABOUT A DEADLY CRASH THAT HAPPENED OVER THE HOLIDAY WEEKEND NEAR LAKE WALLENPAUPACK IN WAYNE COUNTY.  POLICE SAY A 15-YEAR-OLD GIRL WAS BEHIND THE WHEEL OF AN SUV THAT CRASHED, KILLING THREE TEENAGERS FROM THE COUNCIL ROCK HIGH SCHOOL.  SIX PEOPLE WERE IN THE SUV AT THE TIME OF THE CRASH, THE DRIVER, ANOTHER GIRL AND FOUR BOYS.  THREE OF THE FOUR BOYS WERE KILLED.  THE VEHICLE WENT OFF THE ROAD AND ROLLED MULTIPLE TIMES.  NO CHARGES HAVE YET BEEN FILED.


  POLICE ARE RELEASING THE STATE'S ACCIDENT REPORT FOR THE LONG LABOR DAY WEEKEND.  13 PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND 211 INJURED IN 686 CRASHES INVESTIGATED BY STATE POLICE DURING THE FOUR-DAY HOLIDAY WEEKEND.  LAST YEAR OVER THE SAME PERIOD, 11 PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND 262 INJURED IN 661 CRASHES.  70 CRASHES WERE ALCOHOL-RELATED AND TROOPERS ARRESTED 545 PEOPLE FOR DUI LAST WEEKEND.  THEY ALSO ISSUED MORE THAN 10,000 SPEEDING TICKETS AND CITED 813 PEOPLE FOR NOT WEARING SEAT BELTS.


  THE ESTIMATED POWER JACKPOT IS UP TO $100 MILLION.  THE CASH OPTION IS NEARLY $62 MILLION FOR TONIGHT'S DRAWING.


  NEW JERSEY GOVERNOR CHRIS CHRISTIE IS HEADED SOUTH OF THE BORDER TODAY.  HE'S GOING ON WHAT HE DESCRIBES AS A TRADE MISSION TO MEXICO.  THE THREE-DAY VISIT IS SUPPOSED TO FOCUS ON ECONOMIC GROWTH AND JOB CREATION, BUT POLITICAL ANALYSTS SAY IT'S PART OF HIS PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN STRATEGY.  CHRISTIE'S LAST INTERNATIONAL TRIP WAS TO ISRAEL IN 2012.


  AFTER RETURNING FROM THEIR OVERSEAS GAME SATURDAY AGAINST CENTRAL FLORIDA, PENN STATE FOOTBALL COACH JAMES FRANKLIN SAYS HIS PLAYERS SHOULD BE FRESH FOR THEIR NEXT GAME.  "SUNDAY,  THEY WERE ABLE TO SLEEP IN WHILE THE COACHES WERE BACK IN THE OFFICE EARLY.  THEY ALSO HAD OFF MONDAY AND THAT WAS REALLY HELPFUL AS WELL.  NOT ONLY OFF FROM FOOTBALL BUT ALSO OFF FROM SCHOOL," FRANKLIN SAYS.  HE SAYS IF YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE AN OVERSEAS GAME, HAVING IT OVER LABOR DAY WEEKEND IS ABOUT THE BEST TIME TO DO IT.  PENN STATE HOSTS AKRON SATURDAY AT NOON ON WAEB.
